Shakespeare may have died 450 years ago, but a company of actors in their prime, Two Score Years & Ten, are using a collective lifetime experience totalling over 500 years to bring Will’s work very much to life.
There’s no pretence here at ‘playing young’. The Two Score Years and 10 cast convincingly act their ages in this production of Twelfth Night, bringing out new facets of the intrigues within a ‘comedy’ whose plot hinges on unintentional consequences as much as on cross-dressing pretence.
The idea behind the Two Score Years and 10 company represents lateral thinking about age and producers Julie Porter and Kate Garman took the decision to celebrate it by involving actors who are 50 years of age. The company name reflects this idea where the group includes both amateur and professional actors.
The company are honoured to be included in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s ‘Open Stages’ project, which accepts only the best of local community theatres – just 90 across the whole of Great Britain.
The players have benefited from workshops given at Stratford by RSC experts in voice, movement, acting and stage fighting, as well as lighting, sound and set design. The company have also experienced classes from world-respected voice acting expert Michael Corbridge, as well as tutoring from RSC director James Farrell, whose production of Pericles won critical acclaim in 2012.
Experience the experienced in Shakespearian action. Enjoy their "Twelfth Night"!
